Equipping Ministry

The basic mission of this church is to prepare those who God brings to us to be disciples of our Lord Jesus Christ.  Our aim is to help our members to develop a close personal relationship with our Lord Jesus Christ and to adopt an attitude of servanthood.  This is how we fulfill Jesus’ great commission to make disciples.

We equip the disciples at Restoration Church to help them grow in their relationship with Jesus, by identifying, equipping, and releasing people into their gift-based ministries.

One of the underlying principles of Equipping Ministry is found in 1 Peter 2:9 “You are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people….” There are powerful ramifications contained in those words:

Who are these chosen ones, these priests, this holy nation, these special people?
Answer: Every single Christian!

What are the priests’ responsibilities?
To do the work of ministry for the church.

Then what is the purpose of the 5-Fold Ministry?
“To prepare God’s people for works of service.”(Eph. 4:11) The pastors, teachers, prophets, evangelists, and apostles are tasked with actively equipping every disciple of Christ –that is, every Christian–to fulfill the ministry for which God created them.

The first thing people want to know when they are asked to serve in the church is, “What do I need to do?”  The first step you should take toward ministry service is to take the spiritual gifts assessment. It is easy to do and takes only about 20 minutes.

If you'd like help discovering your spiritual gifts, please contact the church.

Ephesians 4:11-14 (NKJV): “And He [Jesus] Himself gave some to be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, and some  pastors and teachers, for the equipping of the saints for the work of ministry, for edifying of the the body of Christ, until we all come to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to a perfect man, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ; so that we should no longer be children, tossed to and fro by and carried about by every wind of doctrine, by the trickery of men, in the craftiness of deceitful plotting….”

We have created the Equipping Ministry in order to provide believers with the necessary tools to grow in their walk with the Lord. We also aim to build into the lives of our people the core values that enable us to have a biblical world view for all of life.
The goal of the Equipping Ministry is to prepare our church community:

·With a Spirit-led, gospel-centered, Kingdom-oriented worldview.
·To live out the gospel norms wherever God has them planted.
·To enable each person to engage their sphere of influence in a meaningful and articulate way that respects another’s point of view and is sensitive to another’s needs.
·To better identify, equip and train our people for leadership that they may lead in a Christ-centered, serving way that will serve as an example to follow and a position for which to strive.
